TEXT: 1 John 4:7-10
God’s love never fails, this is an eternal truth that should resonate deeply in our hearts, offering us hope, comfort, and assurance in every area of our lives.
In a world marked by division and hardship, we can find comfort in the truth that God’s love remains steadfast and unchanging.
As we journey into the year, this is one truth we must never forget, that the love of God never fails.
3 Thing Worthy of Note about the Love of God
1- God’s Love is Eternal
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
Psalm 136:1
For His lovingkindness (graciousness, mercy, compassion) endures forever.
God’s love is eternal, it is not bound by time or by circumstances.
Before the foundation of the world, His love existed and will continue to exist throughout eternity.
The Lord appeared to me ([a]Israel) from ages past, saying,
Jeremiah 31:3
“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you and continued My faithfulness to you.
His love knows no end, knows no limits, and has no expiry date.
When God loves you, He loves you. His love doesn’t diminish.
Just as parents have unwavering love for their children, no matter their shortcomings, God loves us no matter what.
2- God’s Love is Sacrificial
But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
God’s love is sacrificial. It is like taking a gamble on someone you do not know.
The ultimate demonstration of God’s love is found in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.
God was deeply moved by His love for us that He gave up His only son to die for us.
He gave us His most precious gift, His son, to redeem us from sin and death.
His blood was shed as a ransom for our sins, displaying the depth of His love for humanity.
The sacrificial love of God is the foundation of our salvation and a model for how we ought to love each other.
We are instructed to love one another selflessly and generously.
So don’t let tiny problems overwhelm you, remember that your Father controls the whole world and sent His son to die for you.
This same God will go to any length for you.
He laid down His life willingly, if He can do that know that He cannot abandon you now that you know Him.
So everyday of your life, reflect on that sacrifice and let it inspire you to love others.
Respond to it with gratitude and devotion, offering your life as a living sacrifice.
3- God’s Love is Unconditional
For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced—beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
God’s love is unconditional, it says come as you are and just live for Him.
His love does not depend on our actions, our statuses, our riches, or anything other you accepting Him as our saviour and our Lord.
Despite our failures, our shortcomings, and mistakes, God’s love for us never fails.
Conclusion
God’s love never fails. It is eternal, it is sacrificial, and it is unconditional.
May this truth resonate in your hearts and guide your actions.
Embrace God’s love as the anchor for your soul and He will grind and ground you perfectly upon the rock that never fails.
